I have been illustrating greeting cards for the past twelve years. This came as an unexpected opportunity at the time, as I never imagined that it was possible to get paid to draw a bird playing the accordion. I am lucky to have a wonderful publisher in the U.S. who allows me free rein (almost) with the dogs, cats, birds as well as the odd frog featured in my pictures.
After finishing my first series of cards I realized I would have to modify my (slow and laborious) coloured pencil technique if I was going to be able to meet my deadlines, so I began combining pencil with acrylic paint for these more commercial illustrations.
If you live in Toronto, you can buy my self-published cards at The Colour Field; for Vancouverites, cards are available at Urban Source. In the United States, cards can be purchased at a certain groovy grocery store chain.
And there is always my Etsy shop, where you can purchase single cards or sets. Open 24 hours a day.
