For many years I worked as a freelance illustrator. One of my favourite projects was a series of dogs, cats, birds and frogs that were published as greeting cards and were sold at a large grocery chain in the United States, (which I am not supposed to name). I was lucky to have free rein to create characters and scenes of my own.

I worked with colour pencils and eventually discovered that I could achieve similar effects with acrylic paint. Looking back, I see how valuable this stage of my art journey was. I had the opportunity to experiment with paint application and colour combinations and to discover the power of well chosen shapes, all things that I continue to explore in my paintings.

I ended up doing over fifty card designs. Luckily, I retained all rights to the images and now self-publish them as blank greeting cards and prints.
